Whenever my gorgeous brother comes to Sydney he is certainly a creature of habit. I don’t know how he manages it but it’s always around brunch time and he’s always got one thing on his mind – the pork sandwich at Flat White Cafe in Woollahra. Which I agree, is one of the best sandwiches in the world – up there with the jamon iberico bocadillo at Cafe Viena in the beautiful city of Barcelona.
With the lure of a ‘new and different’ pork sandwich, it took a bit of convincing but I persuaded Dom and my Dad to take me to the newly opened fouratefive for brunch last Friday. Just the thing for a girl feeling a little delicate after a decadent masterclass and dinner at Tetsuyas.
loved
service with a sense of humour – even got my Dad’s dad jokes
the pork sandwich – apparently very good but not quite up there with flat white in wollahra
the creamed corn – home made with polenta, sweetcorn and secret herbs and spices. so good with perfectly poached eggs
fun menu
my dad was very impressed with his iced coffee
big communal table
cute airy vibe
didn’t love
fried zucchini very oily and soggy
hand cut chips were a little undercooked
ate
pulled pork sandwich on sourdough with fresh cucumber, aioli, apple & tomato chutney and rocket
homemade creamed corn with poached eggs, bacon & sourdough
goats cheese & orange salad with beetroot, almonds, cherry tomatoes & rocket
rocket & parmesan salad
handcut chips with seasalt & rosemary
zucchini fries with aioli
drank
oldschool bittersweet lemonade
flat white
iced coffee
value
great – $68 for 3 – but we seriously over-ordered
reservations
none needed
perfect for
excellent cafe food – or when you have a hankering for a pork sandwich
