On breadshoes I have a policy about only reviewing places that I enjoy and recommend. To be honest I was a little undecided about Table for 20. It’s not that the food was bad, it’s just not that great. The reason I’m pointing this out is that I don’t want you to go there with high expectations.
That being said, I really enjoyed my dinner at table for 20. It’s a fun concept and great to go and share some simple Italian food, family style with a bunch of strangers. Just don’t expect the food to be any thing more than homestyle Italian.
loved
the passion of the proprietors
sharing & chatting with strangers
the space – 2 massive tables with a really cool chandelier made from sticks.
the vibe in the bar upstairs – but that’s a story for another review
the beef with caponata
didn’t love
gluggy pasta
chocolate cake with raspberry baked into it – not a big fan of fruit with my chocolate but to be fair it had a lovely light moist texture and looked the business
ate
bread & olio
pappadelle with ricotta, broccolini & pinenuts
roast beef with caponata
roast potatoes
rocket salad with figs & walnut
chocolate & raspberry cake with crema & fresh strawberries
drank
BYO
value
OK about $120 for 2 people – 3 full courses – no corkage
reservations
essential – by telephone only
perfect for
something different & fun
