Everyone needs a good local cafe. Somewhere you can drop in for breakfast or a quick brunch, or linger over a coffee catching up with your mates. It doesn’t hurt if said cafe is child friendly, even on a rainy day. If I lived anywhere neat The Laneway, it would definitely be my favourite. Luckily my mate Cait lives nearby and was kind enough to share her local with me. Yay for old friends and good coffee.
loved
friendly local service very child tolerant
big windows and plenty of outdoor seating
the pear and raspberry bread with ricotta
the coffee
didn’t love
toasted sandwich with baby spinach – this is just a personal thing but I can’t cope with wilted salad on toasted sandwiches. I love wilted spinach but put it in a jaffel and I feel a little funny. I know. I’m weird.

drank

The Laneway Cafe, Cammeray are now open for dinner service Wed – Saturday, and last week we went along to taste their tapas menu, a Cammeray first.
Pork and fennel meatballs with roasted tomato sugo
soft tortilla fish tacos
chargrilled Spanish chorizo
and best of all – Laneway Sliders ( mini hamburgers) Yum!
All absolutely delicious, all washed down with some great wines.
We’ll definitely be back for the food ( and the service ) and the humour is not bad either.
