500 Crown St
Surry Hills, 2010
I’ve been a little slow on the uptake with trying out pizza e birra in surry hills, but now that I’ve sampled their thin crusted authentic pizza, I’m keen to remedy my tardiness.
loved
the dim lighting
the classic pizza menu with a few interesting twists
the thin but not too crisp pizza bases
discovering people who understand that pizza is all about the dough, not the toppings
the classic margherita
truffle oil that added complexity without taking over the whole show
genuinely interesting wine AND beer list
didn’t love
call me an old lady, but the noise is a little over the top
ate
pizza margherita, tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil & parmesan
patate pizza – potatoes, mozzarella, provelona, sausage, parmesan & truffle oil
rocket, pear & parmesan salad
drank
prozcecco
castello rossa
spaten munich
polizano chianti
value
good
reservations
not taken
perfect for
buzzy friday night pizza for 2
